Hyphen Mattress Manufacturing Process

  1. Hyphens foams are delivered in large blocks, which are neatly stacked around their factory in visual kanbans (for you manufacturing aficionados) and used to create each Hyphen mattress.
  2. The process all begins with the cover. The cover’s inner lining is sewn by a seamstress.
  3. The large foam blocks can be cut into smaller pieces that can then be glued or assembled.
  4. After the foams have been cut, they are organized and put through a laminator/rolling glue machine. This lamentation machine puts a thin layer of glue onthe foam.
  5. Next the foams go through an infrared oven, which helps remove water from the glue, helping it dry more quickly.
  6. After the layers have been baked, they can be stacked on top of each other. Then, the layers are put into a compression machine that applies pressure to the foams. This ensures that all layers are securely glued together.
  7. The foams are removed from the compressor and placed in a fire sock before being sealed. Two team members at Hyphen push the mattress through the fire sock and use a large cutter to seal off the sock.
  8. The mattress’s cover is then sewn or zipped on. In order to do so, the mattress is placed on a spinning table and an employee quickly spins the mattress while stretching the cover for a smooth fit around the foam layers.
  9. Once we have a Hyphen mattress, it is time to start compressing the foams. A largehydraulicmachine compresses the foams both on top and the sides, before wrapping and rolling in plastic.
  10. Finally, place the rolled mattress in a box.
  • The shipping label is placed on the box and immediately loaded onto the shipping carrier for delivery!
